So sleepy...zzzzzzz

Oh, man. Violet has not been wanting me to sleep lately. She started teething hard core two weeks ago. I think we are about to see her first tooth at any moment. She hasn't been too unpleasant from it, thank goodness. The teething tablets are amazing little things. That is pretty much under control, but she started rolling from her back to her stomach last week. That means most of her wakeful time is spent rolling all over. It has consumed her.
My amazing little sleeper has turned into a mobile monkey in the middle of the night. She will go to bed anywhere between 6 and 8pm and sleep until anywhere between 3 and 5am to nurse and then goes back to sleep until around 8am. Of course, I do not go to sleep at the same time as her. In fact, I typically stay up pretty late since Daniel works until around midnight. That has not been a good combination lately when she wakes up in the early morning, nurses, and then wants to play for another 2hrs. This has happened the past three nights. I am now running on about 7hrs sleep total in three days. That is usually the minimum I sleep in one. And it isn't like it really upsets me because she is so happy to play. It would be different if she were up screaming all night. It is just creating really, really long days for me.
So, please excuse the dark bags under my eyes and the fact that I can't listen and follow directions from things like my GPS or that I forget to pack enough food for my kids at the park and they want to steal all of yours. I am just thankful I have not misplaced my keys or any one of my kids at this point. Caffeine only goes so far.

  1. What a cute pic! My little man is almost 5 months and I am not looking forward to the teething stage! Only thing I can suggest about the no sleep situation is to try to keep her up a little later. I love my sleep so I get disappointed when the baby goes to bed early b/c I know I'll have to wake up early! Hope you get some sleep soon.

  2. Now you know why I don't speak in complete sentences and lose my train of thought all the time.... my kid wakes up at 5am everyday no matter what I do! Keep her up late? Doesn't work. Heck, that is even with sleeping medication. Without it, she is up at 2am! I just keep telling people, "I really am smarter than you think I am, I have just been sleepy for eight years."

I hope you get some sleep soon!

PS What does Leila want for her birthday??? I am going birthday shopping tomorrow!

  3. Aw, what a sweet picture! Scarlett has been waking up at 5 am lately and it's killing me! I have to get up and take her in the other room so she doesn't wake up Chad and Mason since we're all in one bed! One day like 20 years from now I'll sleep again. :)

  4. I feel ya' girl. I've been staying up super late trying to finish up projects for all three of my courses. It's like my professors got together and decided to screw with me. Haha! When I dropped Waylon off yesterday at hourly care and walked to my car, I realized I had left my keys in his diaper bag in the classroom, I left my purse in the house on my way out, and this morning with my hair in a pony tail, I put those weird salon-lady clips in to hold my bangs back while I took a bath. I saw my shadow as I walked to the car - I had like two horns on the side of my head, from leaving in the freakin' clips! One, thank God for shadows, and two, can you imagine what they would have said when I walked in with those things in my hair? Hahaha! Aw, the joys of motherhood! Love it!

  5. What a precious picture! You both have these perfect doll faces. Sorry about the lack of sleep. Glad to hear you are making bows and maybe dresses for the girls. Post some pictures when you are done. I have had the same thoughts, but taken no action so far.

  7. Oh man, I remember those delirious days! I miss snuggle sleep time ... Casen doesn't ever slow down for much snuggle time at all now-a-days. Guess it's time for another little one to snuggle with soon :)

  8. I'm right there with you. I'm actually hoping that my 14 month old is teething - otherwise, I have nothing to blame for the 4 to 5 wake-ups a night. Exhausting.
