Hurricane Update

We are doing fantastic here. We have power and water which is much, much more than most Houstonians can claim right now. We did not have any damage to our property at all. It helps that the area around us is all new developments and farmland. In other words, we do not have tall pine trees like a lot of people have. That seems to be what has caused a lot of damage around town. I think we just really lucked out in our area because of the way the storm hit and moved toward the northeast. Daniel went out driving around the immediate area to see damage and said it just seems like landscaping got its butt kicked along with some street signs and traffic lights. Businesses with power were already trying to reopen.

I have a number of friends around town that have some major issues going on with their homes. Mostly trees coming down causing damage to their home or cars. My parents' home is well, but they lost parts of their fence. Their neighbor's oak tree came down in their backyard. They are without power and water. I would say that is what most people are dealing with as well.

The only issue we really seem to be having today is cell phone service being sketchy. It takes a while to get calls out. I can receive text messages, but it is hit and miss to return anything. Just a minor irritant, and I will take that any day over what it could have been.

  1. Our power keeps going on and off. The water is completely gone. We also just found out there is no school until Thursday. Kenny and I are going to head out today, so he can cut down trees for people.

Tell Daniel that Kenny is exempt from paying his student loans for awhile. Rita bought him three months. Ike should bring him wayyyyy more.

I keep telling everyone I be gettin' my FEMA check next month. Fo'sho.

  2. LMAO

They are issuing grants for replacing household items not covered by homeowners like landscaping.
