Ava's new room

I am very excited to share what I have spent months working on for Ava. I think I lost five pounds last week putting it all together as far as painting it. I can't complain about that. It was a lot of work, but here it is.

Ava's room has a girly, French theme. I bought her bedding from Bombay Kids before it went out of business. Or should I say that Daniel bought EVERY item of this collection after a few too many drinks one night. Gotta love good timing. It still needs a few more pieces of furniture, but it is pretty much done. We need to add a dresser. We have ordered a bistro table for her nightstand and a different bistro table with chairs to go where her pink chair is under the chandelier.

I painted her walls in tone on tone shades of blue-green (Sherwin Williams Aquaduct and Cooled Blue). Let me tell you the stress of getting the room taped off for those stripes. Daniel was so nervous about me doing them. He has never seen DIY stripes that he thought turned out well. His main issue is the bleeding of the edges on them. However, I know how to paint in order to avoid that (paint into the stripe so you are not pushing paint under the tape). They tuned out perfectly. He is thrilled with it, and he has vowed never to doubt my abilities again. After all, I am very much the type of person that will not attempt things if I am not certain I can do it very well.

Ava feels like a beautiful princess in her room. I am quoting her, too. She really wants me to have a slumber party in her room almost every night. Of course, it is hard to resist it. The room is even more than I could have dreamed for as a little girl...or a big girl for that matter.

  2. If I didn't know better, I'd say that was an ad directly from a Bombay catalog. Great job!
