Lost in Translation?

I posted this on my myspace blog, but I wanted to add it here as well.

This one had me today because I have no clue where it came from. This is the conversation that took place in the car as I was driving the girls to my parents'.

Leila: "Ahhhhh!!!!"

Ava: "Mommy, do you know what she said?"

Me: "Nope. I sure don't."

Ava: "Well, I do...do you want to know?"

Me: "Okay, what did she say?"

Ava: "She said, 'What the hell are you talking about?"

Me: "WHAT?!?" "We don't say things like that!"

Ava: "I didn't say it. Leila said it."

Me: "Well, you need to tell Leila that she is going to be in huge trouble if she ever uses that kind of language again. You hear me?"

Ava: "Yes, Mommy. Leila, Mommy says you are gonna get it if you say that again."

Me: "Ava, I meant YOU! Don't say that again. It is adult language. Where did you hear that anyway?"

Ava: "I don't know where."

Me: "Well, I think I need to have a talk with your daddy."
