So, today was Madison's last day of school, and the start of our weekend with her. I had the duty of picking her up from school today. Which I must say, has to be the best pick-up day of the year. I think she was just bursting with anticipation to see me pull up to the school curb to pick her up.
Now, I tried to be the cool parent, err step-parent, and celebrate her summer freedom with my favorite end of the school year anthem-- Alice Cooper's "School's Out". The little school helper kid opens the door, and Madison hopped in the car backpack-free and singing to herself oblivious of anything else.
I smiled and greeted her congratulating her on surviving another year. She said, "Huh? Oh yeah, thanks." Then, she went on singing to herself. That is when I realized what she was singing. It is "What Time is It?" from High School Musical 2.
Man, I really feel old now. Every kid for the next 30yrs, unless someone else ruins it, will be singing this song on the last day of school. I swear, I will make it my goal for Ava and Leila to be "cool" and pay homage to Alice Cooper once they are in school. I will just load it up on their iPods 100x's to play often in their rotation.
